Coffee County Central got hot early and never let up in a home beatdown of Tullahoma Friday night, with the Lady Raiders beating the Lady Cats 60-33.
Junior guard Natalie Barnes was red hot from deep, pouring in 19 points to lead the way for Coffee County. Channah Gannon added 12 in the paint, followed by 8 apiece form Jules Ferrell and Olivia Vinson.
“That was an undefeated ball team,” said CHS head coach Joe Pat Cope, speaking of Tullahoma who entered the game 5-0. “We came out with a little more pep in our step tonight (than we did Tuesday).”
The win improves the Lady Raiders to 7-0 on the young season.
Coffee County got production from everywhere – with 7 different players scoring. Audri Patton finished with 6 points on a pair of 3-pointers .
“I had a heart-to-heart with my Dad, and I put in probably 3 or 4 extra hours of work this week and it paid off,” said Patton.
The win is the 23rd in the last 24 attempts for CHS over the Lady Cats.
RAIDERS 39, WILDCATS 43
Tullahoma’s Xavier Ferrell hit two free throws with 10 seconds to play to push Tullahoma ahead by 4 and ice the game for the Cats 43-39 over Coffee County in what was a back-and-forth final few minutes.
The Raiders trailed by 1 with 27 seconds to play and had possession but could not retake the lead. The Raiders had another possession down 2 and could not score.
CHS led at the end of the second and third quarters in the loss. Brady Wright and Courtland Farrar each scored 9 points for CHS and MJ Rollman had 8 before fouling out. Cayden Trail had 8 in his first game back from shoulder surgery.
The Raiders struggled at the stripe, going 7-of-13 and turned the ball over 14 in the loss.
Coffee County is now 2-4 on the season.
