As early voting approaches, Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett is encouraging registered voters to participate in the state’s Honor Vote program by dedicating their ballot to a U.S. veteran or active-duty service member.
The program allows Tennesseans to recognize the sacrifices made by those who have served or are currently serving in the nation’s military while exercising their own right to vote.
This year, participants will receive a limited-edition 2026 Honor Vote button commemorating America’s 250th anniversary. The button honors the nation’s founding and the service of military members who have defended the country’s freedoms.
“At a time when our freedoms are on full display, the Honor Vote program offers Tennesseans a meaningful way to recognize those who defend them,” Hargett said. “Casting a ballot in someone’s honor is a simple yet powerful way to express our gratitude to the brave men and women who protect the United States of America.”
In addition to the commemorative button, participants will receive an informational guide and have their dedication included on the official Tennessee Honor Vote List.
The Secretary of State’s Office is also encouraging participants to share their tributes on social media using the hashtags #GoVoteTN and #TNHonorVote.

Early voting for the Aug. 6 State Primary and County General Election begins Friday, July 17, and continues through Saturday, Aug. 1. Election Day is Thursday, Aug. 6.
