The Shepherd’s House mission is to provide food and temporary housing for the homeless women and children in the community while helping them gain independent employment and housing.
They recently announced the launch of their “Blessing Box” Food Pantry on Facebook:
Stocked and ready!
Many have asked about the pantry. As a first-time host, I’m learning alongside you. My goal is to help the homeless in our community by providing food to fill their stomachs. Most items are suited for those without stoves or fridges, but I’ve also included some for families needing help with supper due to low funds. A hygiene shelf is also available. The community is welcome to contribute to the pantry.
**Please do NOT drop off bags at the pantry box, or leave items that are not food.
**Leave only food that is unopened and not expired.
You may give me the foods and I’ll keep up with stock and rotation or you may fill a spot if you see one. Leave a detail message on the answering machine if your call is not answered. I will call you back. Help us pray to bless those who need a break and protection against those who may take advantage or harm this new resource. Thank you! The Shepherd’s House followed up with a Facebook post that all of the food had been taken all at once, prompting some folks on Facebook to ask if “the food was taken to be re-sold”, “While that’s is a big hit. Maybe they have a family of 8 and really needed the help. I hope it wasn’t someone talking advantage”. The Shepherd’s House posted this:
One person came and took over $200 dollars in one swipe. I knew this was a possibility. I didn’t think it would happen on the 2nd night. This is why the community struggles to help those who are in real need
