LADY ROCKETS 33, EAGLEVILLE 40
Westwood took a 29-19 lead with 3:21 to play in the third quarter, capping what was a 12-2 run at the time.
But it was all Eagleville from there. The Lady Rockets went on a 7:30 scoring drought, Eagleville cashed in with a 16-0 run and beat the Lady Rockets 40-33 Monday night at Joel Vinson Gymnasium – a game you heard live on Thunder Radio WMSR.
It was the first conference loss for the Lady Rockets.
Westwood was led by 9 points apiece from Zallona Dillard, Amelia Johnson and Maci Jackson.
ROCKETS 30, EAGLEVILLE 36
It was a tough second half the doomed the boys, too. Westwood was down 11-9 at the break and Eagleville proceeded to take off on an 11-1 run in the third quarter and the Rockets never recovered.
Isiah Buchanan and Brock Christian tried to shoot the Rockets back into the game. Buchanan had two 3-pointers and Christian had three, all in the second half but could never get to within one possession. Buchanan led all scorers with 17 points.
Both Westwood teams will play Coffee Middle School in a cross-town showdown Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Coffee County High School. Girls tip at 6 pm and boys follow. Both games will be live on Thunder Radio Coffee County Bank Hometown Sports Series.
