The Westwood Rockets continued their dominant start to the season Thursday night, cruising past Cannon County 30-0 in a game that was called before halftime due to lightning.
Westwood built its 30-point advantage with 3:54 still remaining in the second quarter. After multiple lightning delays, the game was eventually called with the Rockets comfortably in front.
Quarterback Brodie Ahlijah needed just three pass attempts to do major damage through the air. Ahlijah completed two passes, both for long touchdowns, and finished with 100 passing yards and two scores.
Walker Lovelace made an impact on both sides of the football. Lovelace intercepted a Cannon County pass in the first quarter, then hauled in a 60-yard touchdown reception on Westwood’s very next play. He finished with 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Berott Clem broke loose for a 55-yard touchdown on his only carry of the night, while Brentley Brown added a 35-yard touchdown run on his lone rushing attempt.
The Rocket defense was just as dominant. Eli Clem added another interception as Westwood held Cannon County to only 20 total yards and one first down before the game was called.
Westwood will return home Thursday to take on Liberty. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
