Sheriff Says Coffee County Jail May Not Pass Upcoming Inspection

At the March 27, 2025 Coffee County Law Enforcement Committee Meeting, Sheriff Chad Partin stated that the population of the jail is at 392 inmates (out of 400 beds).

Sheriff Partin said that he thinks that the next Tennessee Corrections Institute jail inspection, may not be approved if the jail is over crowded and that TCI may put the Coffee County Jail under a “plan of action”. A plan of action is a written plan utilizing a county corrections partnership initiative that will eliminate or correct deficiencies noted in the annual jail inspection.

Sheriff Partin also warned the committee about his medical budget, citing unhealthy inmates for an increase in costs:
