Coffee Middle School got a pair of wins over Westwood in non-conference play Friday night at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.
COFFEE MIDDLE LADY RAIDERS 38, WESTWOOD 21
Coffee County smothered Westwood early and built a 25-6 halftime lead then held on in the second half.
The Lady Raiders forced 14 Rocket turnovers in the first half and buried four 3-pointers in the first two quarters.
Westwood settled down during the second half but could never cut the deficit inside of 10.
Jenslee Nogodula and Avery Pruitt each scored 10 for Coffee Middle to lead the way. Harper Crosslin added 8, Kinsley Pruitt 6 and Brylyn McAdams 4.
Westwood was led by Jerzee Ferrell’s 8 points. Amelia Johnson added 4, Zallona Dillard 3, Makenzie Meacham 2 and Maci Jackson 2.
Coffee Middle is now 4-0 on the year and Westwood falls to 5-2.
COFFEE MIDDLE RED RAIDERS 49, WESTWOOD 27
Westwood looked to be sitting good going into halftime with a 17-16 lead.
But Coffee Middle turned up the pressure and outscored the Rockets 14-2 in the third quarter and went on to blow past the Rockets 49-27.
For the Raiders it was the speed and athleticism of Jo Jordan and Jaxon Pruitt that Westwood couldn’t stop. The two combined for 42 of Coffee Middle’s 49 points. In fact, no other Raider had a field goal until Rylan Abellana hit a 3-pointer with 4:30 to play in the game. Abellana finished with 5 and Hyatt Moss 2. Jordan and Pruitt each had 21.
The Rockets were led by 10 from Isiah Buchanan and 6 from Kingslee Miller. Trenton Tanner had 4, all in the first half, Brock Christian had 3 and Luke Christian 2.
