Coffee County Mayor Dennis Hunt, was recently a guest on Thunder Radio’s interview show, “Connecting Coffee County”.

During the interview, Mayor Hunt referenced the Coffee County Commission Meeting set for November 12, 2024. On the Meeting agenda (find that HERE), agenda item 9a and 9b call for the nominations, appointments and oath for Commission seats 2 & 6.
Our recent local election (November 5, 2024), in which Coffee County Commission seats District 2 & District 6 were filled by the voters of Coffee County, voters chose Sammy Anderson to fill District 2 seat and Benton Brown to fill District seat 6.
Mayor Hunt explained that Mr. Brown and Mr. Anderson were elected, but will not be seated as Commissioners until the certification of the November 5, 2024 election, which is set for November 19, 2024. Mayor Hunt stated that the November 12, 2024 full Coffee County Commission Meeting is the last Coffee County legislative body meeting of 2024. Mayor Hunt indicated that as Chairman of the Coffee County Commission, at the November 12, 2024 meeting, he will open the floor for nominations to temporarily fill the vacancies of seat 2 and seat 6.
Mayor Hunt indicated that it is likely that the two individuals (Brown and Anderson) that garnered the most votes in the November 5, 2024 election, will be appointed by the Coffee County Commission to fill the seats for one night, November 12, 2024.
