Sheriff Matheny, along with investigators from his office, continued to follow leads into the allegation of an armed robbery that supposedly occurred January 23, 2025 in the area of Yager/Short Mtn Roads. After an intensive investigation lasting throughout the night, Billy Wayne Fults, Sr., the alleged victim in this case, was arrested for Filing a False Report. Mr. Fults gave a full confession to the false allegation prior to his arrest. He is currently being held in the Warren County Jail.
January 24, 2025 (original information)
On January 23, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Warren County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Yager Road and Short Mountain Road., located in Warren County, TN, in response to a male who had been robbed at gunpoint by two individuals. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the victim was traveling in the area of Yager and Short Mountain Roads, when he was stopped by a dark-haired, white, female who was standing in the road, flagging him down. The female advised that her truck had broken down, and asked if he could help her. As our victim attempted to assist her, he was approached from behind by a white male , wearing a hoodie that covered his head and partially hid his face, who put, what our victim believes to be a gun, into his back and demanded his money. The suspect reached into the victim’s pockets and forcibly retrieved an undisclosed amount of cash.
After the robbery, the two suspects fled the scene in a green, 1990s model Ford truck. The truck was described as a single-cab, long-wheelbase vehicle with a white pinstripe and damage to the right rear quarter panel.
The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Authorities urge the public to exercise extreme caution and be aware of their surroundings.
