Thunder Radio WMSR will host a political forum on April 16 for candidates in the upcoming Coffee County primary election. The event is free and open to the public
The forum will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Church at 117 and will broadcast live on Thunder Radio 107.9 FM, 1320 AM, 106.7 FM. The Church at 117 is an events center located at 117 East Fort Street in Manchester.
The forum will be moderated by Peterson Media Group (PMG) Vice President Josh Peterson and PMG News Director Katie Northcott. PMG is parent company to Thunder Radio.
Coffee County residents may submit questions for the candidates by emailing thepetersonmediagroup@gmail.com. Republican candidates for Sheriff, County Clerk, Circuit Court Clerk, Register of Deeds, County Mayor, and County School Board (Seat 1) are invited to participate in this forum.
All Democratic candidates are running uncontested in the May primary, and Independent candidates will not be on the ballot until the August general election.
Candidates invited to participate in the forum are as follows:
- Sheriff – Danny Ferrell, Chad Partin, Kelly Smith
- County Clerk – Donna Spaulding, Jenna Amacher
- Circuit Court Clerk – Jenny Anthony, Kelsie Parks Adams
- Register of Deeds – Donna Toney, Kara Wimberley
- County Mayor – Dennis Hunt, Cheryl Swan
- County School Board (Seat 1) – Thomas Ballard, Gary P. Nester, Brent Parsley
The order of events will proceed as follows (times are approximate):
- Sheriff – 5:30 p.m. to 6:03 p.m.
- County Clerk – 6:08 p.m. to 6:16 p.m.
- Circuit Court Clerk – 6:20 p.m. to 6:42 p.m.
- Register of Deeds – 6:47 p.m. to 6:55 p.m.
- County Mayor – 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- County School Board (Seat 1) – 7:35 p.m. to 8:05 p.m.
Early voting begins April 15 and election day is May 5.
