After 18 seasons as the head coach that included over 320 wins and a run of 11 straight years of reaching the district championship, Andrew Taylor has resigned as the head coach of the Coffee County Central volleyball program.

“It’s just time for someone else to take this and build it up even higher,” Taylor told Thunder Radio Sports. “So grateful for all the players and all the coaches I got to work with along the way.”

Taylor stepping aside will end an era for Coffee County volleyball. The program began in 2006 with Taylor as an assistant to Dan Scroggins. Taylor took over as head coach in 2008 and has been at the helm ever since, helping to guide the start of middle school programs at Coffee Middle and Westwood Middle.

“Wish continued success to whoever comes next,” added Taylor.

The team reached the district championship game 11 straight years from 2011 through 2022. The program’s best season arguably came in 2020 when the Lady Raiders reached the region championship match and advanced to the state sectional for the first time in program history, falling one win shy of the state volleyball tournament.

Taylor crossed the 300 career win threshold during the 2022 regular season.

Taylor remains a teacher at the school and as the head boys basketball coach for the CHS Red Raiders.
