One of Coffee County’s biggest offensive weapons will take her talents to Gallatin next year.

On Thursday afternoon, senior Lady Raider Willow Carden, who burst onto the scene last year with her big bat and defensive prowess and helped lead CHS back to the state tournament, signed to play college softball with Vol State Community College next year.

“Vol State has always kind of been there for me,” explained Carden. “They have talked to me for over a year, always super great to me. They stood by me as I made sure that is what I wanted.

“I decided a couple of weeks ago I was super interested in their program and love their coaches. We have Lil Girl (former Lady Raider Kaitlyn Davis) there, love her. Looking forward to going to play with them.”

Carden anchored the top of the Lady Raider lineup in 2023, hitting at a .422 clip with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs and a school record 49 RBIs. She also stole 9 bases.

Carden plans to pursue a career in Elementary Education. The Lady Raiders open their spring season in March.
