SOFTBALL: Lady Raiders come up 1 run short in region championship game

Paisley Campbell

Coffee County hit the ball hard early, but could not find green grass and a late rally came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Page Lady Patriots in the Region 5-4A Championship – a game you heard live on Thunder Radio WMSR.

Coffee County hit the ball on the screws early but could not seem to get the ball to fall. Page took advantage, pushing across 1 in the first and 2 in the third to take a 3-0 lead.

The Lady Raiders attempted to rally in the fifth, getting RBI singles from Savannah Cooper and Paisley Campbell but that is all the Lady Raiders could muster. CHS went down 1-2-3 in the sixth and seventh innings.

Lily Norman was solid in the circle for Coffee County, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits and 10 strikeouts over 6 innings in the loss.

The loss snaps a 6-game winning streak for Coffee County and gives the Lady Raiders their first loss of the postseason. They are still alive though – set to play in Friday’s sectional round for a bid in next week’s TSSAA Spring Fling in Murfreesboro.

Friday’s game will be at Green Hill. You can hear the game live on Thunder Radio WMSR.
