Roberta Jane McKibben Proffitt

Roberta Jane McKibben Proffitt, age 106, died peacefully on December 28, 2023 at the NHC Tullahoma Nursing Home. She was born March 31, 1917 in Los Angeles, California to Elmer Chenoweth McKibben and his wife, Lillian Schneider McKibben. She is survived by four of her children: Patsy Housholder (Alan) of Nashville, Robert Proffitt (Melody) of Nashville, Margaret Bills (Steve) of Tullahoma, Glenn Proffitt (Sharon) of College Grove. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and by her brother, Byron McKibben (Mary) of Woodland Hills, California, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Proffitt, and son, John C. Profitt. In 1943, she met Pat Proffit while he was stationed with the Army in Southern California and they were married in 1944. After the war, in 1950 she and Pat moved to Tullahoma, Tennessee where he set up Proffitt Vans & Moving Company which he operated until his death in 1974. She moved to Nashville in 1978 and lived independently and enjoyed excellent health until she was 105. Cremation services are being provided by Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home. A Memorial Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
