The United Way of South Central Tennessee is reminding the community that its annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive will take place Friday, July 17, at Chick-fil-A Manchester, located at 2690 Hillsboro Boulevard, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The event encourages residents to donate new school supplies to help ensure local students and teachers have the resources they need for a successful school year. Donations collected during the drive will be distributed to schools throughout the area.
Items needed for students include:
- Backpacks
- Crayons (24-pack)
- Washable markers
- Blunt-tip scissors
- Glue sticks
- Pencil boxes
- No. 2 pencils
- Colored pencils
- Erasers
- 12-inch rulers
- Pencil sharpeners
- Two-pocket folders
- Spiral or composition notebooks
- Wide- or college-ruled loose-leaf paper
Supplies are also being collected for teachers, including:
- Expo markers
- Sharpies
- Tissues
- Disinfecting wipes
- Pens
- Highlighters
United Way officials encourage anyone who is able to stop by during the event and donate a few items to help local classrooms start the school year prepared. Every donation, large or small, helps support students and educators across South Central Tennessee.
In addition to the Manchester event, Stuff the Bus donation drives will also be held at other participating locations across the region, giving residents multiple opportunities to contribute if they are unable to attend Friday’s Manchester collection.
