The Red Raider boys bounced back nicely after their opening round loss in the Don Webb Christmas Classic in Scottsboro, Alabama – winning two straight to close up the tournament, capped by a 56-53 win over Caverna, Kentucky Friday afternoon.
And the Raiders did what has become common practice this year – won in comeback fashion.
Coffee County fell behind 18-5 in the first quarter before storming back to get the win. The Raiders had the game tied after three quarters.
Cooper Reed’s 16 points led the Raider offense – with 15 of those coming in the second half. Jayden Carter put together a double-digit performance for the second straight day, scoring 10 points, with 4 coming in the decisive fourth period.
The win makes the Raiders 8-9 on the season. CHS will play at Franklin County in a boys only contest Thursday, Jan. 4. That will be the final non-district tune up before Shelbyville comes to town for the District 9-4A opener Tuesday, Jan. 9.
