Coffee County Central High School has named Preston Smith the new head coach of the Lady Raider flag football program as it prepares for its second season.
Smith is already a familiar face within Coffee County athletics as a member of Brandon Harmon’s Red Raider football staff. During Thunder Radio’s recent Inside the Program interview, Harmon identified Smith as the team’s running backs coach for the upcoming season.
Smith also brings firsthand experience to the new role, as he continues to compete in flag football himself. That playing background should provide a valuable perspective as he works with a young program still establishing its identity.
Coffee County launched girls flag football last year, joining one of the fastest-growing sports across the state. Smith now takes over with the opportunity to continue developing the program, introduce more athletes to the sport and build on the foundation established during its inaugural season.
More information on the Lady Raiders’ second flag football season will be available as the schedule approaches.
