Mr. Jack Augustus Whitley Sr.

Mr. Jack Augustus ‘Galloway” Whitley Sr, of the Panhandle Community, was born in Nashville, to the late Edith Pearl Galloway and James Robert Dwyer on December 26th of 1939. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family and his animals.

Jack graduated from Jacksonville Technical Highschool in Florida in Aug 1957. He served in the Army in Alaska as a mechanic from 1963-1965. He attended the Marietta-Cobb Area Vocational School to receive his Automotive Mechanics certification in June 1972. He retired from Greyhound where he worked as a mechanic for 39 years starting at the age of 17. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music, playing his banjo, and driving his Dodge Ram Truck. He lived a simple life on their family farm caring for his horses, chickens, and dogs.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Fannie Crosslin Whitley and half-brother Douglass Whitley. Also, by the grandfather, Augustus, uncle Paul, and aunt Ruth Galloway that raised him. He is survived by two brothers; Michael (Elaine) and Terry (Mary) Scott, daughters: Ruth & Tina Whitley, Sons: Tom & Jack (Cindy) Whitley. Grandchildren: Tonya (Steve) Anderson, Mark (Dana) Whitley, Dustin Whitley, Berlyn Kinese, Alexis Whitley, Adam Whitley, Amy Whitley, Aaliyah Whitley, Helena Kinese, Cason Kinese, Keanu Whitley. Great Grand Children: Kamden Anderson, Brynleigh Anderson, & Alice Whitley. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation service will be held at Manchester Funeral Home on Sunday, December 31, from 12 Noon until 2 PM with services beginning at 2PM. Burial follow at Fredonia Cemetery in Manchester Tennessee, with military honors. Pallbearers will be Mark, Dustin, & Adam Whitley, Cason Kinese, Steve Anderson, and Bruce England.
