Melinda Gail Shores

Mrs. Melinda Gail Shores, age 66, of Manchester, TN, passed from this life on Sunday, November 13, 2022, in Murfreesboro, TN.

Mrs. Shores was born in Manchester, TN, to her late parents JC Vandergriff and Helen Tenpenny Vandergriff. She worked as a nurse for the VA Administration in Tullahoma for many years. Mrs. Shores and her husband, Jerry, were both members of New Union Church of Christ. She was an avid UT football fan. Mrs. Shores loved being outside, loved her flowers and the outdoors in general. She dearly loved her coworkers and friends at the VA. She especially loved her dogs and her grand baby, Layla.

In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Charlie Rowlett and mother-in-law, Willie Shelton.

Mrs. Shores is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry Shores; sons, Christopher (Meagan) Shores and Matthew (Nicole) Shores; brother, Jay (Charity) Vandergriff; sisters, Janie (Tim) Blanton, Amy (Kenneth) Rigsby, and Anna Rowlett; grand baby, Layla Shores; step grandchildren, Macy and Kylie Brown; several nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 2:00pm in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Charles Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Welker Cemetery in New Union.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Welker Cemetery, Potter’s Children’s Home, or Short Mountain Bible Camp.
