Judith Mary (Lane) Fitch

Judith Mary (Lane) Fitch, age 90, of Tullahoma, was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving sons at her Brookdale Senior Living residence in Tullahoma, TN. Judy was born in May 1933 in Aurora, Illinois, to the late George Menzo Lane and Ione (Thomas) Lane. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Ann Hixson, her loving husband of 54 years, Clark Ramer Fitch, her brother, Bob Lane, and sister-in-law, Gloria Lane.

A Memorial service is planned for Friday, January 5, 2024 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in Tullahoma, Tennessee at 1:30 PM. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Rosehill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma.

Judy or Grandma, or Grandma Nana, as she was known by her adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a special, selfless, and gracious soul. She was known for the ability to light up a room with her contagious laugh and smile, her ability to turn strangers into friends, and her caring heart. She accommodated others before her own needs and never wanted to burden anyone with any heartaches she endured.

Judy loved assisting her parents at their Barley Fork restaurant in Yorkville, IL. She was married as a young girl of 18 in a beautiful ceremony at the Yorkville Federated Church (now Chapel on the Green) on January 6, 1952. Judy spent her married life caring for her husband, her home, and their 4 children in Tullahoma.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Clark Fitch, Tullahoma, and James Lloyd Fitch, Forest VA; one daughter, Jane Gayle Murphy, Hamilton OH; eight grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

Judy was a faithful letter writer and kept in touch with family, always. Her words, “Tho the miles between us are many, you seem so very near. Distance makes no difference, to those we hold so dear,” is a reflection of her spirit and her life.

Our family is especially grateful for the love and faithfulness of friends from Wilson Avenue Church of Christ and First United Methodist Church. An extra special thank you to the loving and caring staff of Brookdale Senior Living.
