Patrons that frequent the upstairs weight room at the Manchester Parks and Recreation complex may have been wondering this for the past few weeks. Five gallon buckets can be found here and there among the weight equipment, collecting water. Random ceiling tiles are missing overhead.
All of this may seem odd, being that the entire roof of the building was replaced in 2023. The complex was open during the roof replacement process.
At the January 22, 2024 Recreation Commission meeting, Recreation Commissioner Leslie Trussler asked about the buckets, water collection and ceiling. Director of the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department, A.J. Fox stated that the area was a mystery. Fox went on to say that through one area of the ceiling one could see daylight in between the duct work and the roof. He went on to say that the roofers (Don Kennedy Roofing) surmise that the water may be condensation forming on the ductwork. Don Kennedy Roofing plans to inspect the area in question with a thermal imaging camera.
The updated scheduling for this inspection is Friday, January 26, 2024.
