Doug also worked in Tullahoma as a Locksmith for several years. He enjoyed working with his hands and spending time with his family. After serving in the military, he became very passionate about caring for other veterans. He would always be found going out with a team of other volunteers to help find shelter for those veterans less fortunate. Many times he would go out to the homeless veterans and make sure they had blankets to keep them warm and food to keep them from being hungry. Making sure his fellow veterans were cared for meant everything to him.

Doug was married to Anita Bonner Dietz of Manchester, Tennessee and she survives him. Along with his wife he is survived by one son, Christopher Douglas (Amy) Dietz of Thomasville, Georgia and one sister, Dana (Randy) Simpson of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.

Online condolences may be made at  Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
