THP Releases Report about Coffee County School Bus involved in Accident

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released the official Preliminary Crash Report regarding the Coffee County School bus accident that occurred on Highway 53 in Manchester, on September 26th.

The Report states that at 3PM on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the Coffee County School Bus, a 2014 Bluebird A3, was traveling on Woodbury Highway, at or about Duncan Road, when the vehicle traveling in front of the bus suddenly stopped. The Bus attempted to avoid a collision and went off of the roadway (to the right) to avoid crashing into the other vehicle. The Bus entered a ditch which caused damage to the right side bus, near the swing arm door. Driver of the Bus, Debra Beauvais, was uninjured, according to the Report.

No charges were listed in the Report. The vehicle traveling in front of the bus was not identified in the Report.

Dr. Charles Lawson, Coffee County Director of Schools, has issued a statement regarding an incident involving a Coffee County School bus.

“During an afternoon route on September 26, a bus transporting students from Coffee County Middle School to Deerfield Elementary was involved in a traffic accident.  District officials worked with Tennessee State Troopers and local law enforcement to resolve the situation.  One student was transported to the hospital by EMS to be evaluated.”
