Coffee County Creates Ad Hoc committee to reconcile Zoning Appeals Terms

January 25, 2024 the County’s Ad Hoc committee met, which included, County Commissioners Laura Nettles, Joseph Hodge, Dennis Hunt.

First order of business was to appoint Chairman and Secretary. Laura Nettles
was appointed to the Chair and Dennis Hunt was appointed as Secretary.

It was agreed upon that this Ad Hoc Committee was established to make
recommendations to the Legislative Body that will reconcile the considerable
discrepancies regarding Coffee County’s Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) term
expiration dates of its members. Records indicate that 3 members of the BZA
had terms expiring as of January 2024. This would be in direct conflict with
the requirements of both Tennessee Code Annotated and Coffee County’s own
zoning resolution.

The committee then voted unanimously to obtain copies of the Legislative Body’s
minutes for every January from the last 15 years.

Secretary Hunt will convey this request for records to the Clerk of Coffee
County. The Clerk will provide these records to the Chairman of this
committee to be presented to the members at the next meeting.
