At the February 6, 2024 Board of Mayor and Alderman Meeting, in a split decision vote, the Manchester Board of Mayor and Alderman passed an ordinance to adopt an updated Land Use Plan (Physical Development Plan) as suggested by the Land Use Plan Subcommittee.
Many citizens approached the Board with concerns about the City Adopting the Land Use Plan. Several stated that they were worried that their properties would be rezoned by the Land Use Plan.
Alderman Ryan French had this to say:
The mission of the Land Use Plan Subcommittee is to update the existing land use plan and make it a living document to capture past changes and define a future vision including and beyond the current city limits.
Tennessee Annotated Code 13-4-201states: It is the function and duty of the commission to make and adopt an official general plan for the physical development of the municipality, including any area outside of its boundaries which, in the commission’s judgement, bears relation to the planning of the municipality.
