Betty Joyce Moore Majors

Betty Joyce Moore Majors, age 93, passed away, Tuesday, December 26, 2023, in Tullahoma. She was born November 22, 1930, in Tullahoma, TN, the daughter of Frank and Willie Cope Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles Anderton Majors.

Mrs. Majors was a graduate of MTSU and studied at the Israel Conservatory of Music and  Julliard with Henrietta Michaelson. She retired from AEDC after 31 years where she was a computer scientist. A professional genealogist, she was the author of 11 reference books on genealogy and numerous family genealogies and served as Coffee County Archivist for 17 years.

She was a member of the following organizations, many of which she served as state and national officer: Americans of Royal Descent, Magna Charta Dames, Plantagenet Society, Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the US Daughters of 1812.

Mrs. Majors is survived by her daughter and son in law Carolyn and Wain Diehl of Tullahoma, and son Robert Majors of Nashville, grandchildren Andrew Diehl, Benjamin (Tricia) Majors, Christina (Michael) Austin, and Catherine Majors, daughter in law Tina Majors, and great grandchildren, Stella and Tipton Majors and Maggie, Clayton, and Wyatt Austin.

A celebration of life and visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Tullahoma Funeral Home from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to  the John C. Campbell Folk School, 12 Folk School Road, Brasstown, NC 28902, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or to the charity of your choice.
