BASKETBALL: Vinson, Reed named District MVPs; 8 CHS players receive honors

Cooper Reed and Olivia Vinson were named District 9-4A MPVs for the 2023-2024 season.

Coffee County players dominate the list of players selected to the 9-4A All-District Team.

Coffee County Lady Raider junior Olivia Vinson and senior Red Raider Cooper Reed were named District 9-4A MVP for the girls and boys, respectively.

The final list is laden with Coffee County players.

For the Lady Raiders, also named all district were Natalie Barnes and Channah Gannon. CHS point guard Jules Ferrell was named All-District and Freshman of the Year and Ava McIntosh was named Most Improved.

Meanwhile, on the boys side senior Jackson Shemwell was named to the All-District Team and junior Brady Wright was named Most Improved in the district.

The District 9-4A tournament begins this week. The Lady Raiders will play the winner of Shelbyville and Spring Hill at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium. The Raider boys will take on the winner of Shelbyville and Lincoln County at 3:30 p.m. Saturday – also at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.

Girls consolation game and championship will be Monday night, Feb. 19 beginning at 6 p.m. with boys consolation and championship Tuesday night, Feb. 20 beginning at 6 p.m. All games at The Patch. Click here for more information on the district tournament.
