Coffee County Central held Tullahoma without a field goal for the first 9 minutes of game play and four different Lady Raiders scored in double-figures as CHS rolled past the Lady Cats 69-22 Tuesday night in Tullahoma – a game you heard live on Thunder Radio.
“We were getting hyped before the game because us seniors, it is our last time to get to come over here and play Tullahoma and our last time in an atmosphere like this so we wanted to make the best of it,” said senior Olivia Vinson, who led Coffee County with 17 points.
Vinson was joined by Channah Gannon with 15 points, Jules Ferrell with 13 and Natalie Barnes with 12. Ferrell was named Thunder Radio’s New Haven Mortgage Player of the Game.
Coffee County was 14-of-16 at the free throw line and forced 21 Wildcat turnovers.
The win pushes the Lady Raiders 17-0 on the season and is the 24th win over Tullahoma in the last 25 games.
TOUGH SECOND QUARTER COSTS RAIDER BOYS
Tullahoma outscored Coffee County 16-6 in the second quarter to take a 33-21 lead into the locker room and Coffee County was never able to pull it to within one possession in a 54-45 Wildcats win over the Raiders Tuesday.
Courtland Farrar scored 8 points in the first quarter, including a buzzer-beating jumper to cut Tullahoma’s lead to 2.
But the Wildcats turned the Raiders over and the guard play of Xavier Farrell and Khani Johnson was too powerful for CHS in the second quarter and the Cats took a 33-21 lead into the break.
CHS cut the deficit down to 8 a pair of times but never got any closer.
Farrar finished with 11 points to lead CHS and Cayden Trail had 8. The Cats were paced by Farrell with a game-high 26.
